Welcome to my new speaker website
Well this has been a fun ride.
If you have landed here, you may or may not know that I run the neurodiversity consultancy Firebird.
But as well as training companies and organisations on inclusion, I do a lot of public speaking.
Up to now, I’ve focused exclusively on neurodiversity. Well, I say exclusively, there have been a lot of other bits and pieces that have come into it, like the future of work, general inclusion and how much I hate WhatsApp groups. But the core of my work has been around how to include, support and empower neurodivergent people. Making managers more comfortable with neurodiversity. Improving processes. Advising on environments. Bringing the fidget tools.
Now I’m building on my work in neurodiversity to expand into something a bit more progressive. Mental diversity (you can read an explainer of mental diversity here). Universal design. Systemic inclusion. Designing for cognitive variation. And going beyond that to find out what’s next for our world of work and learn how can become more inclusive while not driving ourselves bananas.
Because inclusion is brilliant, but the way we’re doing it doesn’t always suit us. I speak to so many managers and leaders who desperately want to do the right thing by… well, not just neurodivergent people, but everyone. But they find too often there are myriad barriers in their way. Some of this comes down to knowledge – understanding neurodiversity and getting it “right”. But some is a lack of time, energy or even focus. These folks all have a real job to do outside this field, and it can be difficult to balance their desire to build an inclusive workplace with the realities of the day-to-day work.
So I developed a range of talks (you can see these on my talks page) to address what’s really going on for managers. What could be made easier now? What’s next for the world of work? And how can we put it all together when we’ve barely even got time to go to the toilet?
Then I made this website (with a lot of help from actual professionals obvs) to showcase what I’m doing now. To make it easier for you to understand how I can help you.
Thanks for dropping in and please do get in touch if you think there’s something here that would be valuable for you and your team.
